Schema markup is structured data that describes information on a page in a machine-readable form. It can clarify entities and support eligible search features, but it doesn't replace useful visible content.
Start with what the page actually contains
A business page can describe the organisation, an article can identify its author and publication details, and a product page can describe the item. Choose a type that fits the real content. Do not label an ordinary service page as a different kind of page simply to chase an attractive search display.
Keep one coherent implementation
In WordPress, inspect what the SEO plugin and theme already generate before adding another snippet. Check names, URLs and entity identifiers for consistency. If the plugin owns the graph, extend that implementation carefully rather than creating a second conflicting organisation or author.
Review the information, not just the syntax
- Make sure marked-up claims agree with visible details.
- Use the real author and business identity.
- Do not invent ratings, reviews, prices or credentials.
- Follow the requirements for the specific search feature you're implementing.
Test the final page
Use an appropriate validator and inspect the live rendered output after deployment. A JSON document can parse correctly while describing the wrong page. Track warnings and errors in context, and recheck after template or plugin changes.
Understand the limit
Correct structured data doesn't guarantee a rich result or a ranking position. It also doesn't automatically create a featured snippet or secure an AI citation. Treat it as an accurate description of useful content, then measure what actually happens rather than selling the markup as an instant traffic shortcut.
