Content revised 21 October 2026.
An SEO strategy should explain what the business wants to improve, which pages matter and who will carry out the work. Turn broad ambition into a reviewable backlog.
Define a useful outcome
Choose the service, product or support task the website needs to serve. Keep relevant existing search topics and URLs in the plan. More traffic is not a complete goal if it comes from people outside the actual audience.
Diagnose before selecting tactics
Review content, technical access, mobile use and measurement. Link recommendations to observed faults or information gaps. Social promotion, writing and development solve different problems and should not be treated as interchangeable quotas.
Assign delivery
Record the URL, proposed change, owner, approval and verification method. Keep source backups and agree how significant releases are tested. Set priorities based on impact and dependencies.
Review the evidence
Separate completed work from search and enquiry outcomes. Document limitations and adjust the queue when new evidence appears. Strategy is a sequence of informed decisions, not an automatic promise of the top three.
