What is the Difference between CPM and CPC?

What is CPC?

CPC stands for Cost per Click and it is an important part of an online advertising model PPC where advertisers get to know about the cost that they will have to pay in a PPC marketing campaign. CPC found its name from the fact that advertisers are only charged when a user actually clicks on their ad. PPC is basically a way of buying visits to your site, rather than attempting to earn those visits organically.

What is CPM?

CPM is known as Cost per Mile and is defined as the cost per thousand page impressions. It is highly used in advertising payment methods and refers to the numbers of clicks that a website gets by the readers. In simple words, it refers to the cost that an advertiser will have to pay when his ad will be displayed one thousand times on search engines.

Difference between CPM and CPC

In the present days, there is a lot of discussion about the competition between CPM and CPC. Both CPM and CPC are helpful for meeting the business objectives but they are suitable for different kind of marketing campaigns. The major difference between them lies in the method of payment while you are advertising your business on search engines.

For instance, there are businesses that want to analyze their campaign with the help of each click that they get. Here CPC proves to be the best model as it follows the strategy of paying per click. But if you want your ad to be found in search engines thousands of time, you should go for CPM. It becomes highly cost-efficient for your business as in this model you pay according to the thousand page impressions.
