Content revised 21 October 2026.
A browser extension should solve a defined inspection task. Review current support, permissions and data handling before installing a collection from an old top-ten list.
Inventory the jobs
You may need to inspect rendered metadata, links, redirects or page behaviour. Some tasks already have browser or website tools. A third-party authority metric answers a different question from checking the actual HTML.
Check each product
The original list included tools such as SEOquake and the Ahrefs SEO Toolbar. Their names are historical examples, not a verified current Firefox compatibility or pricing recommendation. Consult the official listing and vendor documentation for any candidate.
Review permissions
Mozilla explains what requested permissions allow an extension to access or modify. Install from appropriate official sources, limit unnecessary access and remove unused tools carefully. A familiar name does not eliminate the need for review.
Verify the public result
Compare a tool’s finding with the page itself and the relevant primary documentation. Keep versions and test conditions recorded. An extension score does not prove content accuracy, policy compliance or a future ranking position.
Official guidance: Mozilla extension permissions.
