Cost per click (CPC) is the amount charged for an ad click. It explains the cost of traffic, but it does not show whether that click became a useful customer.
Understand the two common CPC figures
A maximum CPC bid is the upper bid you set in relevant campaigns, while actual CPC is the final amount charged for a click. Average CPC divides the total click cost by the number of clicks. Keep these figures separate when comparing a proposal or report.
Use a simple example
If 100 clicks cost PKR 25,000 in total, the average CPC is PKR 250. That calculation does not tell you whether the clicks were qualified or profitable. Connect click data with landing-page activity, valid enquiries and sales where the measurement is appropriate.
Review more than the keyword
- Search term or audience context.
- The promise made by the ad.
- Landing-page relevance and mobile usability.
- Conversion tracking and lead quality.
Set limits without assuming profit
A low CPC is not automatically a good result, and a higher CPC is not automatically wasteful. Decide what a useful visit can be worth, check budget controls and review the full customer path. No click price guarantees traffic quality or profit.
