Content revised 21 October 2026.
Choose a designer around the customer journey and the assets your business needs. Website layout, graphic design and SEO overlap, but they are different responsibilities.
Write the design brief
List the pages, media, forms and customer tasks. Show what needs improvement on the current website and what must be preserved. A logo brief needs different outputs from a responsive service-page design.
Review relevant work
Ask how the designer handled real content, mobile navigation and accessibility in a comparable project. A polished mockup is useful, but inspect whether the final implementation supports the task and can be maintained.
Agree deliverables
Specify source files, editing responsibilities, media rights, revisions and handover. Confirm who implements the design and tests forms or integrations. Keep the domain and business accounts under appropriate ownership.
Connect design with search
Preserve useful URLs and strategic content while improving hierarchy and readability. Design can support a better journey without guaranteeing Google positions. Top SEO’s founder experience since 2007 does not replace a project-specific scope.
