Content revised 20 October 2026.

An SEO content strategy connects customer questions with useful pages and a realistic publishing plan. Start with your business priorities and existing content before filling a calendar.

Choose the audience and business outcome

List the services or products you can actually deliver and the questions customers ask before buying. Decide what a useful visit should lead to: a product comparison, a qualified enquiry or an informed support answer. Broad traffic goals are hard to act on when the content has no connection to the offer.

Map existing pages first

Create a simple inventory with URL, purpose, audience, condition and next action. Some pages need fresh facts or better structure; others already answer the question well. Check for overlapping articles before commissioning another variation. Keep established URLs unless there is a clear migration reason and a tested plan.

Prioritise a manageable queue

  • Fix inaccurate information on important pages.
  • Improve pages that support real buying or support decisions.
  • Fill demonstrated gaps in the customer journey.
  • Assign an owner, evidence needed and review date to each task.

Build briefs that explain the job

For each page, specify the main question, important supporting topics, available evidence and relevant internal links. Choose a format that fits the task. A service overview, detailed guide and short policy explanation don't need identical lengths or layouts. Leave room for the writer to make the answer natural.

Review outcomes and maintenance

Compare relevant search queries, landing pages and useful enquiries over a suitable period. Record changes so you can interpret the results. Share content where it helps an appropriate audience, then keep essential information current. A strategy should make it easier to decide what to improve next, not simply require more posts every week.
